Well, I'm back...again. And for the second time, I'm not making any apologies for 'gettin while the gettin was good'...would you expect any less? So the book thing got put on hold due to the fact that I got blocked as hell about midway through, so to amuse myself I decided to do 'mental reviews' of things...well, not things so much as sounds, but you get the idea...turns out that I was making more progress reviewing albums for myself than I was on either of my books. I looked at my options, one of which was coming back to the place where I got started (aka: mike's amazing website'o'greatness) or venturing off into the land of emo or punk for some other websites that were on the prowl for writers with the gift of pretension and arrogance...actually, it's only one website that I thought about writing for, but I pussied out of applying for a gig with them because this site offers more of a growth opportunity for me and my ever-evolving writing style than did the other.
I haven't exactly cleared this with Mike yet (I'm sure he'll be fine with it), but I'm not coming back and doing my old rant/rave/whine/moan thing...I'm going to stick with music for the time being, mainly because of the fact that my American Hi-Fi review garnered some of the funniest comments I've ever read on this site...if you think I hated them, wait'll hear what I've got to say about the likes of Dave Matthews and his Band of merry malcontents..or Tool...or (fill in bands name here)..and so on. I won't just be covering new/local/indie stuff this go-round...I'll be running the gamut from old to new, indie to mainstream, local to not so local. Another deciding factor for this all music, all the time love-in of mine was the fact that this site has, at any given time, been home to some absolutely great writers who, due to my selfish need to be number one, got shoved aside by my habit of posting either the day after they did or even the same day...see, the music/review section is in the middle of the page, which gives me a whole area all to myself and free's up the top two slots for more deserving pen-and-inkers. I really hope no one takes that as a slight agains them, because it's not...it's me knowing my role and shutting my hole. Anyhoo...I'll try and get my first post up by the end of this week or on Monday at the very latest..it's another long one (surprise, surprise, shock and amazement) and the basic gist of it is 'The Best Bands from A to Z that you've probably never heard of and their mainstream equivalent'...fun, eh? Until them...lataz all my lil' knee-grows!
