Well first off I would like to say that I really enjoy this CD. I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in "nu-metal." They sound a lot like Soulfly in my opinion, but on with the review.
- 1. God Save Us – I think this is a great opening track for the CD because of how aggressive it is. It lets the listener know what they are in for when they buy this CD.
- 2. If You Still Hate Me – This is the first song I heard by Ill Nino. And I fell in love with it! I think they have a great vibe going, with their hard hitting vocals and their tribal sounding music in the background. Which may I add reminds me a lot of Soulfly. :)
- 3. Unreal – After I started listening to the CD quite a bit, this song actually became my favorite. I believe that the lyrics make this song what it is. The chorus just catches you and draws you into it. They also seem to make use of Spanish lyrics which I can't understand. = /
- 4. Nothing's Clear – I don't care much for this song, I just think its kind of...different. It sounds like they didn't have any inspiration when it came to making this song.
- 5. What Comes Around – On the other hand, I do enjoy this song. This is another one of their songs that draws you into their lyrics. It seems like they are having relationship problems in this song...hrm. The chorus seems to be well thought out and made straight to the point. But yet again for Spanish lyrics...heh.
- 6. Liar – More problems it seems but this time with pills and relationships...don't know what that's a lot about. lol. This song catches my attention yet again with their tribal sounding drums and such. And what is this I hear, sounds like some DJ scratching. hrm
- 7. Rumba – This song is weird...the intro doesn't make sense to me but oh well. This song is decent in my opinion. Just more heavy and soft lyrics mixed again...
- 8. Predisposed – I like how this song is kind of slowed down and kicks the hell out of my little computer sub-woofer. It has some good scratching and the same guitar riff over and over.
- 9. I Am Loco – This song catches me by its guitar riffs. The riff at the beginning sounds like one of Soulfly's from their Primitive compilation. It sounds pretty good, you can tell they worked on this one unlike some of their others.
- 10. No Murder – This song can be described as hard and aggressive. There ya go!
- 11. Rip Out Your Eyes – I only really care for the chorus and the repeated guitar riff. The heavy distortion of Chavarri's voice in the chorus seems to fit "rip out your eyes" heh.
- 12. Revolution/Revolucion – This song is alright I suppose. Not their greatest, kind of sounds like they were trying to hard to make a good song and it didn't work.
- 13. With You – This is an awesome song. It's soft and reminds me of Santana with the guitar. Sounds very Spanish in the prospective of musicality. I think it was a great way to end a CD. They should have had more tracks like this. It really works for them, must be their Spanish background.
Well as you can see most of the tracks are a lot alike. But you should still get this CD, because of how aggressive and spiffy it sounds. They make good use of the heavy distorted vocals along with the normal singing tactics. I would rate this CD a 9/10. Happy Listening!
