Ok everyone; it's been a very long time since I reviewed anything. The sad thing is, I got through about half of the other CD's that I was reviewing and trashed them. The reviews, not the CD's. Well, a few of the CD's I trashed, I kept the new System of a Down though, it rocks! (plug plug plug) The Daredevil movie is getting HORRIBLE reviews. I originally had not planned to see it, then I listened to the soundtrack and it made me want to see the movie. Now I'm torn, between the bad movie reviews and the good soundtrack, well... I don't know if the entire soundtrack is good, but I know that Evanescence is sweet! I guess we will soon find out how the soundtrack is... let's go!
Track 1 - Fuel – Won't Back Down: This is an awesome Fuel song! It actually sounds a lot like their old stuff, you know... before they got 'pop-like'. It's still sort of pop, but it's also pretty heavy at the same time. I like this track; I think it was a good way to open the CD.
Track 2 – The Calling – For You: I think these were the guys that sang the song "Wherever You Will Go" or something like that. I liked that song in a homogay kinda way. This is just about the same... homo, but if you like chic-rock, you'll love this song.
Track 3 – Saliva – Bleed for Me: This is definitely not "Superstar." That was a rock song. I'm not saying that bands can't have more than one style... that makes them interesting, but I'm used to rockin' Saliva. This is just a little bit too soft for my tastes. Just watch though, I'll contradict myself later though, I'm sure of it.
Track 4 – Seether – Hang On: The minute that this song started, I had a feeling that I would love it. The guy sounds a lot like Kurt Cobain though; quite odd... did he fake his own death? Oh wait, there's the chorus, no more Nirvana sound. Booooooring song.
Track 5 – Nickelback – Learn the Hard Way: Whoa, this doesn't really sound like Nickelback either! I like the guitar, but the effect they have on the vocals sounds kinda ummm... dumb. The bridge is the best part of this song. The outro sounds like Nickelback though!
Track 6 – Drowning Pool feat. Rob Zombie – The Man Without Fear: I was excited to hear this track; it sounds like all of Rob Zombie's other stuff. I wonder what part the good ol' guys from Drowning Pool played in the song, doesn't sound like they had much of a hand in it. I like the song though. They even say "Daredevil" a lot, just in case you forget which soundtrack you're listening to.
Track 7 – Nappy Roots feat. Marcos Curiel of P.O.D. – Right Now: Let's see... fast forward... fast forward again. End of the song, thank God!
Track 8 – Moby – Evening Rain: I used to like Moby; "Porcelain" was a good song! Almost everything else has sucked though. This song is no exception to the rule. NEXT!
Track 9 – Evanescence – Bring Me to Life: They're playing this on the radio, I heard it a few months ago and it is what initially got me interested in this soundtrack. I went out and got one of their old CD's called "Origin." It's sweet! They're like Sarah McLachlan meets Linkin Park. I have to say that I'm a huge Evanescence fan now.
Track 10 – Chevelle – Until You're Reformed: I loved that Chevelle song "The Red." Actually, I still listen to it a lot. This is a good song too; I love the timing and the guitar!
Track 11 – Hoobastank – Right Before Your Eyes: This is a good song as well, kinda mellow, but at least it sounds like the average Hoobastank song! I'd listen to it again.
Track 12 – Palo Alto – Fade Out/In: I think I heard something about these guys in the radio the other day. I believe they played this song, and I also believe I changed the station. Just like I'm about to click the next button... NEXT!
Track 13 – Revis – Caught in the Rain: I've never heard of these guys, but I like this song... I'm going to have to research them some more after I get done reviewing. They have excellent vocal harmonies! Good track!
Track 14 – Boysetsfire – High Wire Escape Artists: This guy cannot sing!!! He sounds like he's attempting to, but not quite making it! Actually, is this The Cult??? I don't like this track.
Track 15 – Autopilot Off – Raise Your Rifles: Ditto on track 14.
Track 16 – Graeme Revelle and Mike Einziger – Daredevil Theme: I guess they just threw this in the middle of the CD for no apparent reason. As you should know, Mike Einziger is the guitarist from Incubus. This is a Chemical Brothers sounding theme song. Can't compare to Danny Elfman, but who can???
Track 17 – Evanescence – My Immortal: This song is the reason that I decided to review the CD... I have been listening to this song on repeat for the last week almost non-stop. You've got to hear it. It's not like "Bring Me to Life" though. This is a Tori Amos type song, definitely a chic song. Piano, strings... her voice... just amazing!
Track 18 – Finger Eleven – Sad Exchange: I like this song... well, a little bit. It has good timing, the guitar is good. I'd say it's 100 out of 100 on a "normal rock scale," a bit dry, but there's something about the song that I like. I just can't tell what it is.
Track 19 – Endo – Simple Lies: I like this song too, it's like Robert Smith meets break beat. I love the drums in the song. I think I like it because it has some cool styling on the high-hat. The chorus has a half-time feel which makes the song interesting.
Track 20 – 12 Stones – Let Go: A nice mellow song to finish out the CD. The Guitar sounds like Creed, A LOT! It's just plain mellow though. I could fall asleep listening to the song; it's not a bad thing though. Oh wait, the chorus has some distortion, but still kinda mellow. Nice track, not good... just nice.
Well, there ya have it. I wouldn't recommend buying the soundtrack though. I would however recommend going out and buying everything by Evanescence you can find. I know I'm hooked! You can also buy "Steal This Album," the new System of a Down. Those guys crack me up! Don't' forget about Linkin Park's new CD "Meteora" is supposed to be released on March 25th. It's good as well... not that I've heard it or anything. Oh yeah, if anyone sees the Daredevil movie, let me know how it is. Peace!
